CelebFit’s Media Smart Youth program is a solution.
CelebFit’s unique partnerships with experts in the film, video, music, gaming, fitness, food and beverage industries allows it to create a fun and exciting concept that transforms the Media Smart Youth curriculum into an entertaining experience similar to, American Idol, very popular amongst ages 11-14.

    • Researchers have demonstrated that media consumption is an important variable that affects the health of children and adolescents because of the barrage of messages promoting unhealthy food products, messages about body image, and the sedentary nature of media consumption.

 

    • Among these strategies was the integration of media literacy modules into school curricula in an effort to curtail the negative health impacts of media messages.

 

    • “Media literacy” is defined as the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and produce communication in a variety of forms.

 

CelebFit’s Media Smart Youth program is a solution

CelebFit’s unique partnerships with experts in the film, video, music, gaming, fitness, food and beverage industries allows it to create a fun and exciting concept that transforms the Media Smart Youth curriculum into an entertaining experience similar to, American Idol, very popular amongst ages 11-14.

Integrated into theMSY curriculum are health/fitness challenges. Participants will compete to improve their personal wellness benchmarks. Rewards in the form of modern technology, interactive games, VIP tickets to entertainment events and sporting goods will be used to motivate youth to give their best effort. At the beginning of the program, the following baselines will be measured:

I. Health

  1. Waist and hip measurements
  2. Blood pressure
  3. Body Weight

II. Physical fitness

    1. 1 mile run
    2. Push ups
    3. Sit ups

III. Nutrition

      1. Water consumption
      2. Poor nutritional choices.

At the end of the, 4 week, program participants will be reevaluated. The participant whom improves the most will be rewarded and become the Lifestyle Ambassador for their community. All participants will be rewarded with a special field trip to expose them to various forms of media and interactive entertainment. The Lifestyle Ambassador will become the face of their communities, Dunwoody Exchange, healthy lifestyle advertisement campaign. The campaign, featuring the ambassador, will be promoted on a banner in their immediate community, community billboards in local businesses, yard signage, car magnets, social media sites, the YCA website, radio and T.V. The ambassador will also make appearances at community events to promote the Celebfit program. The healthy lifestyle ambassador will lead the way to recruit their peers into the program and encourage their community members to live a healthier lifestyle.
